A Frugal Journey Through January Day 7

Hello again, and a huge thank you to everyone who is following, liking and commenting on these posts, either here or via Facebook and Twitter, it's so wonderful to get feed back.

Today is already Day 7 and I have an idea for a mixed media canvas board to share with you. I love working in black and white so tend to have lots of leftovers from different collections which can be used together with a zing of colour to lift the project.

I used squares and rectangles of the various papers to create a paper blocked base, a technique I was introduced to by Hels Sheridan - great, easy coverage on a canvas board that was recycled from a previous experiment I wasn't happy with. I then added scraps of washi tape and vellum embossed with script stamps with WOW Ebony and Bright White embossing powders. I also stamped some Washi tape images, also from Kaisercraft, and allowed Lime translucent ink to drip and run down the canvas. The title was a Craft Stamper cover stamp stamped on vellum with white embossing and a scrap of twine. A few ink splatters in black, white and lime and I was done.

I have used this technique for backgrounds on journal pages too, some just like the canvas board,

and some where I didn't really like the papers and so used a layer of gesso to knock the base papers back, before blending inks and adding stamping for a softer look.

Well, that's all for today. I hope you find something here to inspire you to use up your leftovers and recycle some things you are not so keen on.

If you do make something inspired by these posts please do share by leaving a link to your project in the comments so I can drop by and see your work.

Tomorrow I will be back with and idea for creating your own background paper. Same time, same place, I do hope you will join me x
