Summer Distressed Florals

Hello again and welcome.

Last Saturday was our first of our new double card making days with a Summer Florals workshop in the morning and Distressed Florals in the afternoon, both featuring these stamps designed by Jo Firth-Young and Lin Brown for PaperArtsy.

If you choose to take both workshops on double cardmaking days, and pay for them in advance either via PayPal or using Snazzy Workshop Vouchers, you not only make a saving of £6 on the standard workshop fees but you also receive a free Snazzys Studio Voucher which entitles you to a drop in session of your choice ( Stop By & Stamp, Art Journal Sunday or our new Croptime session starting in September ) worth £5. Great value!

I thought it would be useful to explain a little about the structure of these classes and give you an idea of the range of ideas, tips and techniques covered, although every month's workshops are different. Each workshop has at least five cards, for example....

..... making your own stencils to colour through really quickly,

paper piecing,

multiple masking,

and a combination of the two.

Shading with Distress markers directly,

and as a watercolour, both in subtle colours

and bold ones combined with masking to really make a one-layer card pop!

A bit more paper piecing, this time with a repeat stamped greeting,

and a border stamp masked and repeat stamped to create a mitred frame.

We also used an ink layering technique to make even the palest of shades show up on kraft card,

and finished up with my favourite flower stamped and coloured onto old book pages with Lin Brown's stunning poppy stamp.

Everyone had a great day, made some really individual cards in their own choice of papers and colours, and Anna's chocolate cup cakes really rocked too, lemon ones next time a little bird tells me!

If you fancy coming along to our next double cardmaking day it will be on Saturday 12 September and will be our first Christmas workshops of 2015. So if you fancy getting a head start on those Christmas cards with clean and simple cards in turquoise, pink and lilac in the morning, and more traditional cards in reds and greens in the afternoon then either ring the studio or email to book. If you don't want to do both classes you can just book one, but you will miss out on the free Snazzys Studio Voucher.

I will get the full September schedule out later this week but meantime, if you are a fan of Lin Brown's stamps I have space on next Saturday's Cream and Black workshop using these stamps...

.... to make these cards.

Thank you for joining me, hope to see you here again soon x
