Snazzys Annual Winter Sale 2015

We only have one sale each year, it's always a good one but this year's one is a real biggie!

We try to stock products and brands that are not available elsewhere locally so, whilst some lines are generic and will be stocked by any stamping store in the country, if we find that brands we carry are becoming more widely stocked then we tend to retire them and actively seek out interesting new ones. We have therefore decided to retire some brands we have previously stocked - nothing wrong with the brands, we just need to freshen up our product lines and make room for some exciting new lines for the New Year. In addition to this, there are always product lines which are retired by the manufacturers and brands which are no longer distributed in the UK so, from 11am on Tuesday 29 December you will find fantastic reductions on..........

Stamps from PaperArtsy with all A4 sheets reduced from £19.95 to £12.95 and all Minis from £4.80 to £2.95.

Stamps from Dylusions all reduced from £19.95 to £12.95.

Stamps by Tim Holtz all reduced from £24.95 to £17.95, £19.95 to £12.95, and £5.95 to £2.95.

Stamps by Teresa Collins all reduced from £4.75 to £2.50.

Chocolate Baroque stamps all A4 sheets reduced from £22.50 to £14.95, all A5 sheets from £16.75 to £9.95, DL sheets from£13.95 to £6.95 and all A6 sheets from £9.95 to £4.95. Selected sheets are even less!

Darkroom Door stamps no longer have a UK distributor so regretfully we are reducing their rubber sheets from £19.95 to £12.95, their background stamps from £15.20 to £7.60, the collage stamps from £13.25 to £6.95 and the photo stamps from £12.50 to £6.25. Some of the rubber sheets are in the iconic tins which are no longer available and all of them are beautifully detailed.

Hero Arts not in the current catalogue,or going forward to the 2016 one, from as little as £5.

Chapel Road Artstamps have two sale price points with A plates and all plates in retired packaging at £5 and all B plates in new packaging at £6.

All Artistic Stamper sheets are half price or less.

Now to papers, all 12x12 sale papers and Bazzill Canvas card stock are any 10 sheets for £3. All sale corner sticker sheets and specialist acetates and vellums now just 50p. All 6x6 paper pads and stacks by MME, 7Dots Studio, Bazzill, Teresa Collins, Simple Stories, Photoplay, Prima etc are reduced to £4.25.

In the inks, powders and paints aisle we have........

All full size inkpads from Tsukineko, Eco Green and Ranger (excluding Distress pads) are on buy 1 get one free for the duration of the sale - lowest price items free!

All Ranger Distress Stains are also on buy 1 get 1 free.

All Ranger Adirondack paints are £1.65 each, any four for £5 or any ten for £10 way less than half price!

All Ranger Crackle paints are half price too.

Sadly no UK distributor for these lovely creamy paints so all Eco Green paints, including the metallics are reduced to just £1.25.

Selected WOW Embossing Powders reduced from £2.50 to £1.50.

All Pan Pastels, including tools and accessories have 25% off and all Cosmic Shimmer Mixed Media bags will save you more than 50% from the original prices.

All Herma items are also half marked price....

....and finally, all our blanks, Tando, MDF, Creativ, Graphic45 plus all Grungeboard are half price too, with all Ideaology Configrations reduced by 25%!

There are the usual bargain baskets starting at just £1 and we have two Marvy Fingerguard Trimmers with all the fancy edge blades reduced from £47.95 to just £25. Sale ends on 2 January (we are closed on 1 January) so just four days to bag a bargain as when it is gone, it is gone!

We will be closed on New Year's Day but open on the other sale days from 11am to 3pm, hope to see you then x

A neutral sort of day

I have always admired those who can create beautifully neutral pieces which are alive with depth and texture but have never really tried to work with them myself. So, at yesterday's AJ Sunday session, instead of my planned May calendar pages I found myself attempting a page with neutrals!

I used an old plastic key card to scape two layers of gesso onto my page, the first really thin, and when that was dry a thicker layer, leaving some texture. Using the same technique I added thin layers of Distress Paints in Picket Fence, Weathered Wood and a smidge here and there of Frayed Burlap. I had no idea what I was aiming for but just kept adding thin layers of colour until I had a base I liked, sometimes drying the layers in between but mostly not!

I added some stamping with my favourite Kaisercraft texture stamps with Distress Inks in Weathered Wood and Frayed Burlap. Then, having tried to add a pop of white with some splatters of Dylusions White Linen which just didn't pop enough, I used Tim Holtz Speckles Layering stencil with some homemade white texture paste at the top and bottom of the page for a bit more dimension which popped really well but didn't take over the page.

Now I had a background I liked I stamped a couple of Chocolate Baroque butterflies from The Tangled Garden set onto a couple of book pages but, because I wanted them to have a faded look I scraped a couple of thin coats of gesso over them before adding some colour with the same Distress Inks as before. I cut them out and added some Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the edges to make them stand out once I added them to my page.

I stamped the butterflies again directly on to the page and glued my coloured versions over the top. To finish I added some Distress Crackle Paint in Rock Candy to highlight the bodied of the butterflies, and some white pen outline on their wings. Not sure about that, and not absolutely sure the page is finished, but I am sure I have finally had a go at a piece with neutrals and Whilst I think I may need to have a few more attempts with different colour mixes before I feel confident with neutrals, I did enjoy myself.....

....and I am pretty pleased with the 'finished' page, but I'd love to know what you think.

Thanks for stopping by x

A Frugal Journey Through January Day 3

Hello again and welcome to Day 3 of A Frugal Journey through January.

I often doodle ideas for scrapbook layouts in a notebook for the day when Mr Mojo goes on strike. Ideas for cards tend to either get made at the time I had the thought, or lost with the sketch on a scrappy bit of paper headed for the waste paper basket when the urge to clear my desk hits me. So, why not be more organised with card layouts. Work out what you like on a specific size of card.

I started with a layout to fit a 13.5 cm square card but it can be turned,

resized, in full or part,

and the grid can be used as a stencil with inks or paints too for super easy one layer cards.

So, what would you sketch and how would you use it? Why not share your idea by leaving a link to your work in the comments to this post!

Thanks so much for stopping by. The stamps I used in these projects are Chocolate Baroque Wisteria Lane and the papers are from Prima.

See you again same time, same place tomorrow x

October Workshops at Snazzys

Welcome back.

I can't believe it is October already, I think the amazing weather of the past few weeks has put all thoughts of Autumn and Halloween from everyone's minds. So, with the leaves only just starting to turn and my now not so new studio space still not completely finished....

.....the October workshops are outlined below, but I have a couple of general points to share first.

The normal monthly Wednesday evening Mixed Media workshop will be moved from Wednesday evenings to Saturday afternoons for the Winter.

Art Journal Sunday will move from the last Sunday of the month to the first, starting with Sunday 2 November. As I am demonstrating at HSNW Port Sunlight this weekend there will be no AJ Sunday this month.

Our monthly Stop by and Stamp session will move from the first Tuesday of the month to the second starting on Tuesday 11 November - this month will be on Tuesday 7 October.

The monthly Technique Thursday session will also be moved back a week to the third Thursday of the month starting on Thursday 20 November - again, this month's session will be on Thursday 16 October as usual.

I'm sorry to be shifting things around just as everyone has got settled, but I will be away at events more often in the New Year and so need to find a pattern for the 'drop in' sessions which I can fit around this without varying the dates too frequently.

I will continue to include the dates on the monthly workshop schedules so you don't have to remember them!

On with the workshops....

Workshops and Workshop Timetables for July

Firstly a thank you for your patience, we still haven't got everything back up and running but we are making progress in the background.

We have also been having difficulty with our phone and answering service for some time with the message recording being a bit hit and miss. What we really wanted was a service which followed us around, and offered an effective answering service, but unfortunately we have had to change service provider to achieve this.

The new studio number for booking workshops etc is 01793 629062 and if there is no one in the studio available to take your call, it will automatically forward, at no additional cost to you, to the studio mobile number where you can leave a message too. You can also book your workshops by email at snazzy@snazzysstudio.co.uk - just tell us the date and time of the workshop you would like to book, the number of spaces you need, and for whom, together with a contact number should we have any queries.

Don't forget you can save 20% on your workshop if you pay with Snazzy Workshop Vouchers (SWV) which must be bought in advance of the workshop you want to use them for.

Now without further ado, if a little later than planned, here is a REVISED workshop timetable for July 2014 - I am returning to the old format for these timetables as I have had so many hitches with the new layout.

A bit of Hero....

.......Arts that is!

Here's a peek at some of the new Hero Arts stamps in store this month.

First the Polyclears...

.... and I've had a little play with some of them....

Next the Clings, my favourites are the newest stamps from the Stamp Your Story range....

and last, but certainly not least, the woodblock stamps.

Like most people I don't tend to buy too many wood mounted stamps these days, but hang the expense and the storage issues, some designs just sing to you and you have to have them.

I just loved the beautiful detail in these stamps, which are so striking I felt I had to use them very simply. The black and white is very typically 'me' but wouldn't they look beautiful in sepia on cream too.

I'll drop by again on Thursday with the newest designs in from Chocolate Baroque, hope you can join me then xx

Moving on.....

Retirement comes along at some point for everyone and products are no different really.

We continually review all the products we have in store, and with the latest exciting releases always just on the horizon, we often have to make some tough decisions about which product lines need to move on over to make way for all the newest ranges.

We currently have 25% off all our Darkroom Door stamps as sadly we will no longer be stocking this brand. This was a real toughie as I love all the beautiful detail in these stamps but it is time for something new. We do still have one or two designs in the iconic tins which are no longer available, online over at http://snazzysstore.com/.

Replacing Darkroom Door on our walls (and in our online store) we are proud to hang stamps from a home grown UK designer and manufacturer, the wonderful Chocolate Baroque which we will be adding to our stand at all Artstamps shows in future too. Thank you Glenda and Adrian.

In our new entryway photo above you may also catch a glimpse of the amazing JOFY stamps both the 2013 Spring Collection and the new Summer release designed by Jo Firth Young for Paperartsy, again in the UK, and now gracing our walls and online store. Much more to come from them as we gradually introduce the PaperArtsy range of products!

You may remember earlier this year we introduced the new Ranger Distress Paints, which I didn't want to like but.....
Focus on Distress Paints Workshop Sample Wednesday 24 July

...with my addiction to backgrounds they are absolutely here to stay and we will be adding the remaining colours just as soon as Ranger release them.

The downside is that the Headmaster said to make room for them I had to agree to let another paint range go so...

.....bargain!

The other lines of product which we will be retiring are from Cosmic Shimmer.

We have stocked the full range of Cosmic Shimmer Embossing Powders - Aurora, Blaze, Lustre, Precious Metal, Ultra Thick Embossing Crystals, Sparkles etc - since we first opened, adding new colours and finishes as they were released. Similarly the Cosmic Shimmer Misters have been a fixture on our shelves for more years than I want to think about and we simply feel it is time for something new. So, stock up on these now.....

...... they won't last long at these prices and when they are gone, they are gone!

We have all the new Dylusions Ink Spray colours in stock so that makes 18 amazing colours all together.

We have held the price of these at £4.35 since they were first released by Ranger but with the current exchange rate and increased shipping costs we have had to increase the price to £4.75. We are holding the price of the stamps at £19.95 however and have the new ones in stock.

Monster Mash is my favourite...

..and I couldn't resist a little play with them - more details of this project coming over on my blog (http://inkyexploits.blogspot.com/) at the weekend so do stop by there too!

I think that covers things for today, more news on new lines in store, the launch of our Monthly Challenge and some other interesting developments in Snazzys Studio early next week so do stop by then and catch up with all the gossip.

Thanks for stopping by xx

A little peek.....

Oh, isn't it wonderful that the sun has started to shine, even if it is still a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings. Cheers you up no end!

Over the last month we have had lots of new bits in store and I thought I'd give you a quick peek at some of the products I have been using.

Firstly we had the stylish new Couture range of clear stamps from Dylusions. There are four plates all together, three in a fab size ideal for featuring in your Art Journals but then they have cleverly combined all three of the large size images onto a Mini Couture plate which is ideal for cardmaking, and great value at just £12.95.

(You will find them in our online store too over at http://www.snazzysstore.com/dylusions/ )

I used them to create a display board for the store combining the stamps with the very striking 6x6 patterned papers from Bazzill's Basics range which had also just arrived in store. These are beautifully co-ordinated in six colourways to a scale that is perfect for cardmaking.  These packs have 24 double sided sheets, four in each of six designs at just £6.35.

We also have all the new colours of the Dylusions Spray Inks (still just £4.35 each) in store which I used with the new JOFY stamps, designed by the very talented Jo Firth-Young for Paperartsy.

There are 4 A5 plates and 8 Minis in the range, ideal for your Spring projects and they too can be found in the online store at http://www.snazzysstore.com/jofy/

We have also increased our range of stamps from Chocolate Baroque and I had some painty, inky, waxy fun on a canvas with the lovely A5 Honey Bee plate - makes you long for Summer!

And yep, you guessed, this plate together with all the new Chocolate Baroque plates are available from our online store over at http://www.snazzysstore.com/chocolate-baroque/ I also used a lovely 6x6 Honeycomb stencil and a dusting of Ranger's Perfect Pearls, which are wonderful with wax, on this project and although we have the entire range of Prima 6x6 stencils and all 32 Perfect Pearl colours individually in store at £2.95, I haven't yet found the time to get them into the online store, must try harder!

We also have all the latest stamps in from Tim Holtz (new Blueprints etc), Prima (Sunrise/Sunset and Engraver), Kaisercraft (over 50 designs delivered this very afternoon, so guess what I will be doing this evening!) and I will try very hard to pop back soon, share some more samples, and add the new stamps to the online store as soon as poss.

We are off to Artstamps Cornwall (Stand 4) this weekend so the store will be closed on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 May but open as usual from Monday 6 May, yes, even tho' it is a Bank Holiday. The following weekend we are off to HSNW at Port Sunlight (Stand 32) and the store will again be closed on the Friday (10th) and Saturday (11th), unfortunately due to family committments we will also be closed on  Monday/Tuesday 13/14 May too.

On the subject of shows, we have had a number of enquiries regarding our 'no show' at the Creative Crafts Shows at both Malvern and Shepton Mallett this year.

It is always a fine balance between keeping our store open and getting out to meet you all at shows and other events. This year we are reducing the number of shows we exhibit at from 16 to 12 and have reached the decision on which shows to miss on the basis of how good a fit we are to the show. As we are very much a specialist stamping store many of the general craft shows are not the best arena for us so in the main we will be sticking to the specialist stamping shows such as Artstamps (4), HSNW (2), BSSS Ally Pally & possibly Kettering (3), the Craft & Hobby Show (2) and no matter what, Gateshead Stadium in October!

That's it for now, have a great Bank Holiday weekend.
Back soon xx

What kind of workshops do we teach at Snazzys? (Part One)

At the end of my last post I promised to blog all the projects I taught in January in Snazzys Studio so you can decide for yourselves what I teach at Snazzys. Now, what could be simpler? Lay each set of workshop projects out on the desk, snap a piccie of each, pop on the blog. So far so good.........not!

We can't find the recharging cable for either of our cameras and no one knows what could have happened to them, certainly not the teens & teen + children who borrowed them :0(

So, here is Part 1 with all the cardmaking projects, piccies taken with a not so great phone camera.

Then, when the new cable from Mr Amazon turns up in a couple of days, I will blog Part 2 with all the non cardmaking projects.

These cards are from the morning workshop on Saturday 12 January, Clean & Simple cards made with papers from the Teresa Collins Tell Your Story collection. Everyone has remnants (or more....) from paper pads which make very economical and easy cards as they are already co-ordinated for you. Speedy & simples!

These are the samples from the Focus on Pan Pastels workshop in the afternoon of Saturday 12 January where we were creating backgrounds with Pan Pastels using stamps, masks, stencils and texture paste. All stamped with some of my favourite Tim Holtz stamps. These projects were also the basis of a Custom Class on Monday 4 February for a group of ladies who couldn't get booked on the original date.

These samples are some of the projects from another custom workshop I taught on Monday 14 January for a group of ladies who wanted a taster using Distress Inks. We also created our own stencils using the Tim Holtz Blueprint Autumn Leaves to give a hand coloured effect in rich autumnal shades of Distress Inks.

On Wenesday 16 January I used Chocolate Baroques wonderful Tangled Garden plate in a Take One Stamp workshop to make some fresh & striking cards cutting our own custom apertures and with a bit of shrink plastic thrown in. Love these stamps!

Now, before I go, a word about custom workshops. If you are a group of four or more, we are happy to put together a custom workshop, at a time to suit you and your friends. It may be you spot a project taught previously, or a whole workshop you missed, or you simply want a workshop with a focus on products or techniques you want to work with. If so, just email or call us, and we can create a custom class just for you, at your venue or ours - and you can use snazzy Workshop Vouches to pay for Custom Workshops too and save 20%!.

Back soon xx
