Snazzys Annual Winter Sale 2015

We only have one sale each year, it's always a good one but this year's one is a real biggie!

We try to stock products and brands that are not available elsewhere locally so, whilst some lines are generic and will be stocked by any stamping store in the country, if we find that brands we carry are becoming more widely stocked then we tend to retire them and actively seek out interesting new ones. We have therefore decided to retire some brands we have previously stocked - nothing wrong with the brands, we just need to freshen up our product lines and make room for some exciting new lines for the New Year. In addition to this, there are always product lines which are retired by the manufacturers and brands which are no longer distributed in the UK so, from 11am on Tuesday 29 December you will find fantastic reductions on..........

Stamps from PaperArtsy with all A4 sheets reduced from £19.95 to £12.95 and all Minis from £4.80 to £2.95.

Stamps from Dylusions all reduced from £19.95 to £12.95.

Stamps by Tim Holtz all reduced from £24.95 to £17.95, £19.95 to £12.95, and £5.95 to £2.95.

Stamps by Teresa Collins all reduced from £4.75 to £2.50.

Chocolate Baroque stamps all A4 sheets reduced from £22.50 to £14.95, all A5 sheets from £16.75 to £9.95, DL sheets from£13.95 to £6.95 and all A6 sheets from £9.95 to £4.95. Selected sheets are even less!

Darkroom Door stamps no longer have a UK distributor so regretfully we are reducing their rubber sheets from £19.95 to £12.95, their background stamps from £15.20 to £7.60, the collage stamps from £13.25 to £6.95 and the photo stamps from £12.50 to £6.25. Some of the rubber sheets are in the iconic tins which are no longer available and all of them are beautifully detailed.

Hero Arts not in the current catalogue,or going forward to the 2016 one, from as little as £5.

Chapel Road Artstamps have two sale price points with A plates and all plates in retired packaging at £5 and all B plates in new packaging at £6.

All Artistic Stamper sheets are half price or less.

Now to papers, all 12x12 sale papers and Bazzill Canvas card stock are any 10 sheets for £3. All sale corner sticker sheets and specialist acetates and vellums now just 50p. All 6x6 paper pads and stacks by MME, 7Dots Studio, Bazzill, Teresa Collins, Simple Stories, Photoplay, Prima etc are reduced to £4.25.

In the inks, powders and paints aisle we have........

All full size inkpads from Tsukineko, Eco Green and Ranger (excluding Distress pads) are on buy 1 get one free for the duration of the sale - lowest price items free!

All Ranger Distress Stains are also on buy 1 get 1 free.

All Ranger Adirondack paints are £1.65 each, any four for £5 or any ten for £10 way less than half price!

All Ranger Crackle paints are half price too.

Sadly no UK distributor for these lovely creamy paints so all Eco Green paints, including the metallics are reduced to just £1.25.

Selected WOW Embossing Powders reduced from £2.50 to £1.50.

All Pan Pastels, including tools and accessories have 25% off and all Cosmic Shimmer Mixed Media bags will save you more than 50% from the original prices.

All Herma items are also half marked price....

....and finally, all our blanks, Tando, MDF, Creativ, Graphic45 plus all Grungeboard are half price too, with all Ideaology Configrations reduced by 25%!

There are the usual bargain baskets starting at just £1 and we have two Marvy Fingerguard Trimmers with all the fancy edge blades reduced from £47.95 to just £25. Sale ends on 2 January (we are closed on 1 January) so just four days to bag a bargain as when it is gone, it is gone!

Summer Distressed Florals

Hello again and welcome.

Last Saturday was our first of our new double card making days with a Summer Florals workshop in the morning and Distressed Florals in the afternoon, both featuring these stamps designed by Jo Firth-Young and Lin Brown for PaperArtsy.

If you choose to take both workshops on double cardmaking days, and pay for them in advance either via PayPal or using Snazzy Workshop Vouchers, you not only make a saving of £6 on the standard workshop fees but you also receive a free Snazzys Studio Voucher which entitles you to a drop in session of your choice ( Stop By & Stamp, Art Journal Sunday or our new Croptime session starting in September ) worth £5. Great value!

I thought it would be useful to explain a little about the structure of these classes and give you an idea of the range of ideas, tips and techniques covered, although every month's workshops are different. Each workshop has at least five cards, for example....

..... making your own stencils to colour through really quickly,

paper piecing,

multiple masking,

and a combination of the two.

Shading with Distress markers directly,

and as a watercolour, both in subtle colours

and bold ones combined with masking to really make a one-layer card pop!

A bit more paper piecing, this time with a repeat stamped greeting,

and a border stamp masked and repeat stamped to create a mitred frame.

We also used an ink layering technique to make even the palest of shades show up on kraft card,

and finished up with my favourite flower stamped and coloured onto old book pages with Lin Brown's stunning poppy stamp.

Everyone had a great day, made some really individual cards in their own choice of papers and colours, and Anna's chocolate cup cakes really rocked too, lemon ones next time a little bird tells me!

If you fancy coming along to our next double cardmaking day it will be on Saturday 12 September and will be our first Christmas workshops of 2015. So if you fancy getting a head start on those Christmas cards with clean and simple cards in turquoise, pink and lilac in the morning, and more traditional cards in reds and greens in the afternoon then either ring the studio or email to book. If you don't want to do both classes you can just book one, but you will miss out on the free Snazzys Studio Voucher.

I will get the full September schedule out later this week but meantime, if you are a fan of Lin Brown's stamps I have space on next Saturday's Cream and Black workshop using these stamps...

.... to make these cards.

Thank you for joining me, hope to see you here again soon x

It's all about the workshops! (Part 1)

Three of the most common questions I am asked at shows, during demonstrations, in the studio, in the supermarket, and even at the local petrol station this morning is 'do you teach workshops?', 'do you still teach workshops?', and 'can you teach me to do/make that?'

You got it, I have been doing this for a looong time and it is, for me, all about the workshops!

So, I thought I'd share with you a bit about what I teach, where I teach and the sort of projects you could expect to make with me in my studio or on the road.

Bloomin' Marvellous 1 Tuesday 10 March 10am to 1pm

I teach a whole range of workshops in art journaling, mixed media, mini books, scrapbooking and card making. I am an addicted stamper and it is rare for me to teach a workshop that doesn't include a stamp somewhere along the way. I tend to structure workshops around a product or technique but it certainly doesn't mean that will be the only product or technique you will use in the class.

Today I thought I'd cover what you can expect in one of my cardmaking workshops using some of this month's class samples to illustrate.

The first workshop I taught in Wiltshire almost 15 years ago, I christened 'Take One Stamp' because that is exactly what we did. I wanted people to really look at the stamps they were buying, the whole image and the elements, and either see the potential in a new stamp or just leave it on the shelf. I am still teaching at least one 'Take One Stamp' each month, and the photo above is typical of one of these workshops using these fab newly released stamps from Lin Brown for PaperArtsy.

Card making workshops in the studio are generally three hours long and will involve three projects to really expand your technique arsenal plus one or two much simpler cards, often made with the leftovers from the first three. The projects will all use the same stamps but with several different techniques.

I will always demonstrate the techniques involved in my samples as we go along but you may choose to use different colour ways, greetings, size or shape of cards - we keep our workshops small so we can offer you that flexibility.

These stamps are fairly large and this is wonderful for mixed media artists, those who keep Art Journals and scrapbookers but cardmakers sometimes find larger stamps a bit overwhelming, so this class will focus on how to get the most from larger scale stamps by using part of the stamp, shrink plastic, masking and framing, with some quick colouring ideas thrown in for good measure.

Also this month I have some quirky cards using Darcy's new stamps, also for PaperArtsy but very different in feel.

I love these stamps and they are so very versatile, none of the elements have to just be used as they are and I always think that is what makes stamps exciting. I still have one card to finish for this workshop - I messed up the (very simple) masking on it and yes, I will take along the 'reject' to the workshop as it illustrates more easily than my words can what went awry for me!

These are the others.

Quirky Cards Saturday 28 February 10am to 1pm

I charge £15 for a three hour workshops like these ones, but don't forget if you pay for your workshop with a Snazzy voucher, bought in advance of the day of the class, you only pay £12, a saving of 20%, so with 4/5 cards to make in each class, great value for money too!

We supply everything you need to make the workshop projects but you are welcome to bring along your own tools if you prefer.

I have had to change around the original February workshop schedule a bit and have spoken individually to all the customers whose bookings are affected. You will find the revised version here, and the March schedule is on it's way.

Thank you for popping by, I will be back later with the lowdown on other workshops, I hope you will join me then x

Well, surprise, surprise Snazzys workshops this week have all had a Valentine's theme, but easily adapted to wedding/engagement too, and this weekend carries on in the same vein. Full details are over at http://sosimplysnazzy.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/february-workshops.html

We are open 11am to 3pm today and 10am to 5pm tomorrow, and have three weekend specials for you this time, all from Ranger.

Adirondack Paint Dabbers were £4.75/£3.30 all now £1.65

Adirondack Pigment Inkpads all colours were £5.45 each now any three for £10

New in store are A5 PaperArtsy stamps just launched this week at £19.95. I am 'hard at work' today with one of the striking new Lin Brown sets ready for a workshop later this month, and had great fun with some of Darcy's quirky and very versatile stamps yesterday at our new weekly Stop By & Stamp session.

We also have re stocks of WOW's fantastic embossing powders, just £2.50 each or any five for £10 - and yes it included all the different whites!

That's all for now, back very soon with peeks at my new samples.
