A Frugal Journey Through January Day 18

Hello again, thank you for taking the time to stop by.

Today's project uses the flaps from a cardboard box. Firstly I cut two pieces 3"x3" and one piece 3"x6" from the flap of a corrugated card box using a metal ruler and a craft knife.

I peeled back the surface of the card in patches to reveal the corrugated layer underneath dry brushing it with some white acrylic to accentuate the ridges, and allowed some turquoise ink to drip from the top of each piece. I then tore up some leftovers from a sprayed and dripped inky background I had made for another project and glued the strips onto my base. The die cut words were in a box of bits I had cut for something else and then not used - see I told you I am a big time hoarder! I die cut the hearts from a smidge of red card and triple layer embossed them to give them a bit of shine and dimension, added some Tim Holtz Chit Chat words and used some string to thread the pieces together with a loop to hang it with.

I liked this so much I then made an inky spritzed and dripped base in different colours just so I could do it all again, this time using Dina Wakeley's Scribbly Birds stamp set.

Same idea, two different looks. So easy I'm thinking of making one of these for each month this year to hang in my studio.

Hope to see you again tomorrow when I will be prepping the pages in my altered book (see Day 4 of my journey if you missed the cover) into pockets/flaps etc ready to use as an art journal xx
